Duck Dynasty Star Says He’ll Quit if Network Removes God or Guns
Cable TV network A&E is claiming that there are some “complaints” that the stars of reality show Duck Dynasty mix God and guns too often during the show. But if the show’s stars have anything to say about it, that won’t change at all. In fact, the stars have threatened to quit the show if A&E tries to get them to swear off either topic.
Greensboro, NC country radio station 93.1, The Wolf, recently reported that the Duck call-making family upon which the show is based simply won’t moderate their praying, their talk of God or their use of guns during the show.
It’s hard to believe, but the question was actually put to the clan by network executives who wondered if they might tone it down a little. But if TV execs thought they might get that change to the show, they were mistaken.
It isn’t just TV execs that are trying to excise God from our national discussion, though. Recently the US Military sparked controversy by telling religious Christians that they could be courtmartialed for being Christians.
In any case, the radio station quotes star Phil Robertson who said he told the TV suits, “If we can’t pray to God on the show, we will not do the show. God and Guns are apart of our everyday lives. To remove either of them from the show is unacceptable.”
God and guns are particularly hated topics among leftists, of course. Although, some like to attempt to use one to destroy the other. Take VP Joe Biden who tried to tell the nation’s pastors that it was a moral thing to do to preach the anti-gun message from the pulpit.
As to Duck Dynasty, it was not reported whether these complaints came from viewers or from internal network sources. One thing is sure, though: A&E has already renewed the show, and “on the Robertson’s terms” at that.
